NewDad

NewDad is an Irish indie dream-pop quartet hailing from Galway, Ireland. Formed in the late 2010s, the band quickly captured hearts with their hazy, introspective sound — a delicate blend of shimmering guitar textures, hushed vocals, and emotionally raw lyricism that feels both intimate and expansive. Led by vocalist and guitarist Julie Dawson, NewDad crafted a distinctive sonic identity that draws comparisons to the shoegaze and lo-fi indie worlds, while remaining entirely their own. Their early EPs, including *Waves* and *Slowly*, earned them widespread critical acclaim and a devoted international following, showcasing their ability to turn quiet vulnerability into something deeply resonant. Their debut album *Madra* (2023) marked a bold step forward, further cementing their reputation as one of Ireland's most exciting emerging voices in alternative music. Rich with bittersweet melodies and confessional storytelling, the record explored themes of longing, identity, and emotional complexity with a graceful maturity. NewDad's music is the kind that lingers — soft enough to feel like a whisper, yet powerful enough to stay with you long after the last note fades.
